Solutions
The approaches you can take to fix this issue are mentioned below-Solution 1- Configure the internet connection settings (SSL) in your Windows
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a security protocol used by Windows to maintain the authenticity of the data transferred between two systems using the Internet. These settings ensure your data is safe and protects it from getting stolen or compromised during the transfer. These settings can also interrupt an application’s connection to the internet if they aren’t properly configured. QuickBooks can also face problems downloading the payroll update if these settings block its access to the internet. You’ll have to set the settings in favour of QuickBooks to prevent this issue from developing again when you download the payroll update. Use the steps given below-- Open the Run window on your computer by pressing Windows + R.
- Clear the auto-filled data and type Inetcpl.cpl.
- Go to the Security tab when the Internet Properties window opens.
- Scroll down in the list of settings to find SSL.
- Click on the SSL 2.0 & SSL 3.0 checkboxes to mark them.
- Save the settings and close the tab.
- Download the payroll updates again in QuickBooks.
Solution 2- Set accurate date & time on your system clock
The internet connection might also fail due to incorrect timings of your system’s clock. Intuit servers also try to sync the update timings with the system clock, and if there’s a discrepancy in the timings, the payroll update will suffer. Use the following steps to set the clock-- Right-click on the clock at the bottom right of the taskbar.
- Click on the Adjust date/time option.
- Select the Set time automatically option or set the clock manually.
- Close the tab and download the payroll updates again.
