Why Your Deco Keeps Going Offline and How to Fix It

If your TP-Link Deco mesh network continues to experience outages. This is a frequent problem that can be caused by a number of things, such as interference, firmware bugs, improper positioning, or issues with the ISP. Here are some tips for network stabilization and troubleshooting if your deco keeps going offline:

  • Verify Internet Stability First: Make sure your ISP connection is steady before adjusting any Deco settings. Use Ethernet to connect a device straight to your modem, then check for drops or perform a speed test. Regardless of settings, the Deco won’t work properly if the connection is unreliable.

  • Update the Deco Firmware: Unexpected disconnections may result from outdated firmware. Check for the most recent updates by opening the Deco app, selecting More > Update Deco. To take advantage of bug fixes and performance enhancements, always keep the firmware up to date.

  • Ideal Location: Your Deco units may go offline if they are too far apart or blocked by large appliances or walls. Make sure satellites are within two rooms of one another and place the main Deco in the center. Units should not be placed next to cordless phones or microwaves.

  • Use Ethernet backhaul: If at all possible, use Ethernet backhaul to hardwire the Deco units if you’re experiencing frequent drops. This improves stability and lessens dependency on wireless mesh.

When necessary, restart and reset:

  • Try restarting your modem, main Deco, satellites, and complete network. If problems continue, reset it from the beginning using the Deco app’s More > System > Reset Deco feature.

  • Hardware Replacement: If none of the aforementioned fixes the problem, there may be a hardware flaw.
